Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation
into the shooting death of a man in the 1500 block of Eagle Butte Road, Acton.
Investigators have determined that the victim (a 39 year-old white male) and the suspect (a 56 year-old white male) became involved in a verbal, then physical altercation in front of the location. At some point the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim once in the upper torso.
Although LASD and L. A. County Fire Paramedics responded, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident by Palmdale Station personnel.
There are no further details at this time.
One person was killed by gunfire in Acton Wednesday afternoon.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The shooting was reported at the 1500 block Eagle Butte Road.
Detectives responded to a the report of a shooting at 2 p.m., said Deputy Kim Manatt of Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau in downtown Los Angeles. The victim died at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not been released, however Sheriff’s Department officials confirmed that it was a man who was killed.
There are currently no suspects in custody. The case is being investigated by Lt. Francisco of the Homicide Bureau.
“I believe it’s in a residential area,” Manatt said, describing the scene as “near a dirt road.”
No other details are being released at this time.
