Deployed troops from Santa Clarita Valley will be receiving care packages filled with snacks, personal hygiene products and hand written letters thanks to a group of volunteers from home.
Volunteers from Prayer Angels for the Military , American Legion Post 507, and Hero Home Source L.A. teamed up at the Newhall Library on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, to collect donations and pack boxes for the troops.
“We like to step in and make sure that everybody gets something from home,” said J.D. Kennedy, American Legion Post 507 Commander. “And let them know that we’re proud of you and we’re ready to have you home. Just do your work and get back to us.”
Prayer Angels for the military hosts packing events about once a month and the American Legion joins their efforts three of four times each year, Kennedy said.
