MARION, Ind. – On the first day of the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, The Master’s College was represented by Matthew Crichton (Mission Viejo, CA) in the Men’s 1,500 prelim, David Eller (Los Angeles, CA)in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase prelim, and John Gilbertson (Saugus, CA) in the 10,000m final.
Crichton finished the 1,500m prelim in 18th place at 4 minutes and 04.55 seconds, failing to qualify for Saturday’s 1500m final race.
Running his final race as a Mustang, Eller placed 10th in his heat and 20th overall in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase prelim at 9:46.08, also failing to qualify for Saturday’s 3000m steeple chase final race.
In the men’s 10,000m final, Gilbertson placed third out of a field of 19 with a final time of 30:25.89, 16.51 seconds behind Wayland Baptist’s Edward Taragon.
On Friday, the action continues in Marion as Gilbertson will race in the preliminary heat of the men’s 5000m run. Gilbertson enters the competition ranked third on the NAIA National Performance List.
