Snapshot 06/03/2013 – 06/09/2013
This week in Canyon Country-East we had 11 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there was 1 assault, 7 burglaries, 1 larceny and 2 stolen vehicles.
An assault occurred from the 27600 block of Nugget Drive. The victim was friends with the suspect and allowed him onto his cell phone cell plan. When the suspect accused him of stealing his property, the victim told him to get his own cell phone service and had him removed from his cell phone plan. The suspect held a knife to the victim’s throat and threatened to kill him if he did not turn on his phone. The suspect was arrested.
Residential burglaries occurred from the following locations: The 17800 block of Danielson Street on June 1st between 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A MacBook, I pad and keyboard was stolen from a vehicle that was parked in the garage. Entry was made by easily manipulating the garage door lock. The 27300 block of Dovehouse Street between May 31st, 4:00 pm – June 3rd, 8:30 am. The unknown suspect(s) lifted the unlocked garage door and stole a stereo face plate, a speaker box and a wallet from the unlocked vehicle. The 27900 block of Solamint Road between June 3rd, 10:40 pm – June 4th, 1:30 am. Two televisions, an Xbox and a bicycle were stolen from the residence. Entry was made through a bedroom window. The 17600 block of Harris Way on June 5th, between 8:00 pm – 11:45 pm. The garage to the residence was left open; the vehicle that was parked in the garage was unlocked with the keys in the center console. That vehicle was stolen, a second vehicle that was parked in the garage was ransacked but nothing was taken. The 27600 block of Rosa Lane between June 6th, 7:30 pm – June 7th, 7:30 am. Unknown suspect(s) entered the closed garage and pried open the vehicle door. A laptop, Prada glasses and a wallet were stolen. The 29600 block of Poppy Meadow Street between June 2012 – July 2012. The victim reported someone broke into her residence and stole her personal property, she reported seeing pry marks on her front door.
A petty theft occurred from the 18200 block of Sandy Drive. The victim received a call stating he won a sweepstakes and will receive $2,500,000 and a new car, all he had to do is pay for the taxes on the vehicle. He was told to place $379.00 on a gift card and call the suspect with the information. When the suspect asked for an additional $500.00, the victim became suspicious.
A 2008 Toyota pick-up was stolen from Sierra Highway and American Beauty Drive between June 2nd, 1:00 pm – June 3rd, 5:40 am. The vehicle was recovered on Sierra Highway and Sierra Cross on June 8th.
A 1996 Toyota Avalon was stolen from the 18200 block of Sandy Drive between June 6th – June 8th.
Continue to lock your windows, garage doors and make sure to also lock your vehicle. Do not leave any personal property visible in your car. If you have to leave it in the car, secure it in the trunk.
Make sure to always park in well-lit areas and be cognizant of your surroundings. If you see any suspicious activity either close to your home or while you are out shopping, call the Sheriff’s station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
