Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
Last week, the following Part 1 crimes occurred in Canyon Country East:
(1) Aggravated Assault, (1) Robbery, (6) Residential Burglaries, (1) Commercial Burglary, (15) Vehicle Burglaries (7-reports), (2) Grand Thefts, (1) Petty Theft and (2) GTAs:
An aggravated assault occurred near the intersection of Sandy Drive and Jakes Way. The victim was attacked from behind by four male black suspects. The victim was knocked to the ground and rendered unconscious. The case is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.
A robbery/carjacking occurred near Jakes Way and the 14 Freeway overpass. The victim was approached by three male black juveniles who demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle. When the victim refused, they attacked him until he surrendered the keys. The subjects picked up the keys and took the victim’s vehicle. Two of the subjects were later arrested in the City of Hollywood, shortly after the incident. A third subject turned himself in to Santa Clarita Station Detectives the following day.
A Residential burglary occurred near the 18000 block of Sundowner Way. An unknown suspect pried open a pedestrian door leading into the garage of the location and took several tools.
A residential burglary occurred near 16400 block of Lost Canyon Road. The suspect entered the residence through an open front window and took electronics and several pieces of jewelry.
A residential burglary occurred near the 17700 block of Danielson Street. An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked garage and took a GPS unit from an unlocked vehicle parked inside the garage.
A commercial burglary occurred near the 25000 block of Via Princessa. A laptop computer was taken from a locked office. Upon further investigation, the suspect, who was a security guard for the location, was arrested by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.
There were fifteen window smash vehicle burglaries reported in the area of Jakes Way and Sandy Drive. All incidents occurred during the late evening to early morning hours between Wednesday, 08-07-13 and Thursday, 08-08-13. A grand theft occurred near the 29500 block of Abelia Road. A male suspect, pretending to be the victim’s grandson, called and asked for money to be wired for medical bills after being involved in a traffic accident. The unsuspecting victim sent money via “Green Dot” cards and upon realizing the suspect was in fact not his grandson, the victim was informed it was too late and that the money had already been transferred to an account in Florida.
