wsh_logo_best_hartdistrictBegin with the end in mind. Hart School District students are encouraged to think this way as families begin to make decisions about education options following high school.

The Hart School District is hosting its 3rd Annual College & Career Fair on Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 pm at Hyatt Regency Valencia, to assist students with the very important step of drafting a career plan to be followed while making post-secondary education decisions. Juniors and seniors are invited for early entrance between 6–7 pm.

All students are invited to attend, including students that attend private, charter or are home-schooled. The evening is most appropriate for juniors and seniors and their parents. Last year’s event had more than 3,000 attendees.

The Hart School District is a high performing district whose goal it is to prepare all of its students for their post-high school education. The District serves students interested in all education options including universities, community colleges, such as College of the Canyons, and career technical education (CTE) programs, as well as apprenticeship programs.

There will be admissions representatives from two and four-year California colleges and universities, Career Colleges and many out-of-state schools. The representatives will be there to distribute literature, provide information and answer questions of college and career-bound students. Career preparation and apprenticeship program representatives will be on hand to answer questions about their educational opportunities.

“The College & Career Fair will represent every level of post-secondary education,” according to Dave LeBarron, Director of Curriculum & Assessment for the Hart School District. “If you are a student pursuing college or a job after high school, you need to attend this fair.”

The exhibit-style format will feature more than 100 representatives from colleges and career centers from throughout California and around the country. Workshops are not planned for this year but dates of school-site workshops will be included in the Program Guide. Past workshops on topics such as financial aid, CSU admissions, community college programs and transfers and understanding A-G requirements for CSU and UC admissions are available online on the District’s Career Center website:   http://www.hartdistrictcareercenter.com/fair.html.

The Hart School District was selected to be a stop on the college fair circuit produced by the Intersegmental Coordinating Committee, of the California Education Round Table, serving students across the state with the goal of, “All students will meet high academic standards such that they will be prepared for subsequent success in education or the workplace without the need for remediation in core academic disciplines.”

Bank of Santa Clarita, Wescom Communications, The Magazine of Santa Clarita, KHTS, SCVTV and Signal Multimedia are proud event sponsors this year.
