[KHTS] – Sunkist has announced plans to move its corporate headquarters to the Santa Clarita Valley, after acquiring a Valencia building in August.
“It’s been a multiyear process with a lot of different parties involved and it’s a relocation of a major headquarters to the SCV,” said Holly Schroeder, president and CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp., which worked with the corporation on the move. “It’s great to have high quality jobs right here in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
The office represents approximately 200 jobs, and it will use 50,000 square feet of office space in its new Valencia home.
There hasn’t been a moving date set, yet, according to Joan Wickham, manager of advertising and public relations for Sunkist.
“Sunkist Growers, the 120-year old citrus grower-owned marketing cooperative, acquired a building in Valencia on Aug. 23 to serve as the company’s future headquarters along with Sunkist’s sister cooperative, Fruit Growers Supply Company,” Wickham said.
The new office location for the fruit supplier is located at 27770 N. Entertainment Drive in Valencia.
The location is nearer to “Sunkist’s multiple growing areas and will allow the company to keep its current employee group intact,” Wickham said.
“Well obviously, they’re getting a modern building and there’s many quality-of-life factors (in the Santa Clarita Valley),” Schroeder said of the move. “There are great schools, amenities and a strong workforce that they can use for future employment.”
Sunkist Growers Inc. is a citrus growers’ nonstock membership cooperative composed of 6,000 members from California and Arizona.
It was headquartered in the Sherman Oaks district of Los Angeles.
