[KHTS] – The Newhall School District has scheduled several events this month for students, parents and the community.
Newhall Elementary School is planning a fitness fundraising event for students, Tri-R-Athon, on Oct. 10, at the school’s playground, and also is hosting a Common Core Presentation for PTA members Oct. 15.
Valencia Valley is hosting a fun and family friendly Fall Carnival on Oct. 11 and an anti-drug themed event “Perfection on Wheels Assembly” on Oct. 18.
The Newhall Elementary school Tri-R-Athon will be from 8:45 a.m. to noon.
All grades are included and the students will exercise their minds and their bodies while participating in this annual Tri-R-Athon.
This is the only fundraiser that takes place at Newhall Elementary School and includes all of the students.
Pledges from family and friends are given to the students for taking part in three “marathons” combining mathematics, reading and running.
The marathon begins as each grade levels comes outside reciting a cheer that represents their grade levels’ spirit.
The Tri-R-Athon is made possible thanks to PTA volunteer members and sponsorships courtesy of the surrounding community.
The Common Core presentation for parents and community members at 8:30 a.m. in the Newhall Multipurpose room.
A presentation on the new Common Core standards will be given to parents by the school’s assistant superintendent of instruction and district staff.
The Valencia Valley Fall Carnival, a fun family event for the entire school community, will be on October 11 at Valencia Valley from 4-7 p.m.
Each classroom will build carnival style and children will win prizes or tickets that will be redeemable for prizes.
A silent auction will also be in the MPR where families can bid on donated items. There will be food trucks on the site and a DJ during the evening events.
The Perfection on Wheels Assembly event will be from 8-9 a.m. for grades K-6 at Valencia Valley Elementary School.
This assembly will kick off the school’s Red Ribbon Week promoting anti-drug awareness. There will BMX bike specialist there to entertain the children with their tricks and stunts speaking to students about living a positive healthy lifestyle.
