UPDATE:
Colleen Jackson was a member of the Idaho State University Rodeo Team.
“Our team is going to have a race and scholarship in her memory,” said Kiara Wanner, a friend of Jackson and a fellow teammate. “I was very close with Colleen.”
The team is planning to hold a memorial barrel race for her on October 23 at Bannock County Fairgrounds in Idaho.
“Her family is taking her body to California for her funeral,” said Shelby Freed, a teammate of Jackson. “When we asked her father what he would like to do with the money from the fundraiser and he said they didn’t need the money for the funeral, but he would like to donate the money to something that Colleen enjoyed, like a charity or something.”
The team will be holding a silent auction and will be accepting donations.
“Her dad will be deciding a lot of the specifics about the scholarship but it will be a yearly race and scholarship for someone to be able to come and join the ISU rodeo team,” Wanner said.
To learn more about the event and how to donate, please contact Kiara Wanner at (208)-540-0854 or Shelby Freed at (208)- 251-4401.
