Bringing a popular gathering to the incomparably beautiful setting of Vasquez Rocks, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and the Department of Parks and Recreation invite the public to join the “Antonovich Trail Dusters Ride” on Sunday, Nov. 3.
The ride, which allows participants to enjoy a relaxing day on horseback while promoting appreciation of the County’s trail system, kicks off with a 7 a.m. check-in at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area (10700 West Escondido Canyon Road, Agua Dulce, CA 91350). A pancake breakfast will be served before the supervised ride, led by Supervisor Antonovich, begins at 9 a.m. Non-riders are welcome and riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No stallions or dogs are allowed.
Estimated at 3 ½ hours (including rest stops and refreshment breaks), the ride will travel through a combination of rolling hills, some semi-steep hills and level areas. The event will conclude with a traditional barbecue and live country-western music!
Ticket prices are $30 per person (horse rental not included). For reservations, ticket and event information, call Vincent Pedroza at (909) 599-8411 or make an online reservation at http://reservations.lacounty.gov/reservations/product.asp. The reservation deadline is November 1, 2013. For horse rental reservations, contact Lee Graham at Graham Brothers, (760) 245-7695 or by email at info@grahambroslivestock.com.
The Antonovich Trail Dusters Ride began in 1992, and its popularity led to it being scheduled as a twice-yearly event. A central purpose of the ride is to promote public awareness of the vast, multiple-use trails system throughout the County of Los Angeles — which includes connections with other municipal trail systems that are available for the enjoyment of outdoor enthusiasts.
