The Lancaster Burglary Suppression Team concluded a tedious and lengthy investigation with the successful arrest of two burglary suspects.
Assisted by the TOP/CORE Team, the Lancaster Burglary Suppression Team located and arrested Suspect Arley Carter at the Lancaster EZ 8 motel where he was staying. Also recovered from the hotel room were several items reported stolen from as many as five Residential Burglaries which occurred in the City of Lancaster.
Their investigation then led them to a local County of Social Services Office where they located and arrested Suspect Carter’s accomplice, Suspect Shirley Highsmith.
Both suspects are believed to be linked to a burglary spree which involved several victims and the theft of a Honda Civic, approximately $8,000 in cash, various jewelry items valued up to $13,000, cellphones, and credits cards. The credits cards were also used in approximately $1,000 in unauthorized transactions at various businesses in the Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita.
One of the Residential Burglaries occurred at night on October 28th while the 76 year-old female victim was sleeping in her home. Both suspects were booked at the Lancaster Station Jail for Residential Burglary and Vehicle Theft with additional charges pending. They are each held $50,000 bail.
Anyone with additional information related to any of these crimes is urged to contact Detectives with the Lancaster Burglary Suppression Team at (661) 948-8466.
