A memorial service for Help the Children founder Roger Presgrove will be held Saturday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow, hosted by Real Life Church on Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia.
Presgrove, who founded the Santa Clarita-based charity Help the Children, left a legacy of lives changed in the Santa Clarita Valley and around the world.
He passed away on Sunday at the age of 56, after a long battle with skin cancer.
The community is invited to attend the memorial service, and in lieu of flowers, the family is asking that people donate to Help the Children.
Help the Children distributes food to hundreds of churches, senior citizen facilities, battered women shelters, recovery programs and other service providers enrolled as recipients of their food program. These groups, in turn, hand out donated food to the needy people they serve. Last year alone, using their four food distribution sites, Help the Children distributed 1.7 million pounds of bulk food each month and over 35 tons of food each workday. Help the Children currently has several food distribution centers throughout Southern California and across the country.
Help the Children also has specific programs created to meet a variety of global needs. They offer aid through our Burma Pig Farms, Deaf Ministries, Military Family Assistance, Solar Laboratories, Kenya School, Love and Life Center and Malaria Prevention Campaigns.
