[KHTS] – Four Santa Clarita Valley homes will be decked out in spectacular Christmas fashion during the 33rd annual Holiday Home Tour to benefit Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

The Home Tour will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $30 each and the event is open to adults and children over age 12.

his year’s theme is “Open Homes and Giving Hearts,” said Barbara Sanguinetti, president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation Home Tour League. “Home Tour events have raised more than $740,000 to benefit Henry Mayo’s Women’s Services. This year the money will benefit the construction of a new maternity ward and to help fund women’s services at Henry Mayo.”

The four homes open for public viewing this year are located in Westridge, Stevenson Ranch and Wiley Canyon. Opening their homes to the community are: David and Lori Cantrell, John and Ellen McDonald, Andrew Wedemeyer and Jenny Guthrie and Brian and Sarah Daly.

Highlights of the four homes:

The Cantrells share their love of Christmas with several impressive displays of Dept. 56 miniatures, in addition to the Christopher Radko hand-blown Disney ornaments, which adorn the central fireplace.

holidayhometour1“My husband suggested I share my Dept. 56 village,” said Lori Cantrell. “You put so much work into it. I know it is for a good cause, too.”

The McDonalds worked with designer Patrick Tremblay and his team (Sharon Higgins, Carolyn Empero, Karla Canepa and Maggie Limbaugh) to use traditional Scottish and Welsh décor as their inspiration. The 6,400-square-foot manor home also features a Harry Potter room.

“I wanted to make sure the home fit with their style, we used a lot of fabric, a lot of trees and kept it very rustic,” Tremblay said. “I had a great team and great homeowners to work with.”

Ellen McDonald said she wanted to give back to the community and being part of the Home Tour was the perfect way to share “the Christmas spirit.”

The traditional ranch-style home of Wedemeyer and Guthrie features an advent calendar made of birch branches and a dining room table set for Christmas in a room of golds, reds and greens. The table is from the TV series, Sister Kate. Guthrie, who is a Hollywood set designer, said she spent nearly 100 hours decorating the home.

Guthrie said she was happy to share her home with the community because “it’s for such a good cause.”

The Daly home features a home with a vintage “vibe” and Margaret Ferlong Christmas ornaments hanging from the centrally-located Christmas tree.

Tami Reyna, chairwoman of the Home Tour, said she expects everyone to have a “fantastic time” this year.

“We are very excited about the beautiful homes we have this year on Home Tour,” Reyna said. “They are expertly decorated and we’re excited for everyone to see the homes. We also have a fantastic boutique this year.”

Reyna said a highlight of this year’s Home Tour will be a raffle of 70 prizes donated by Santa Clarita Valley businesses. Tickets will be available for purchase at each of the homes on the Home Tour or at the boutique. Raffle tickets are $1 each.

If you can’t wait for the public tour on Saturday consider the Friday night Preview Gala which will be held 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. beginning at the Tournament Players Club. Gala tickets (sold only in advance) are $125 each and include dinner at TPC. To purchase Gala tickets call 661-253-8051.

A Holiday Boutique, featuring nearly 40 vendors, will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pico Canyon Elementary School, 25255 Pico Canyon Road, Stevenson Ranch.

The Home Tour is open to adults and children over 12 years of age. For safety reasons, guests are requested to wear flat shoes only. For more information and locations of ticket sales outlets visit henrymayogiving.com.
