ralphsgrocery[KHTS] – A Ralphs grocery store in Castaic is set to close Friday, March 7.

The store is located at 31970 Castaic Road. The future of the building and its employees has not yet been announced.

“We will work to replace as many associates as possible in alternate stores.  I am not aware of what is going in to that site in the future,” said Kendra Doyel, vice president of public relations and government affairs at Ralphs Grocery Co.

The nearest Ralphs location, at 29675 The Old Road in Castaic, will remain open.

  2. Oh no! That’s awful news!

  3. Marc Hagest Marc Hagest says:

they should close the other one! at Hasely Canyon!

  4. Sorry to hear this. Not sure why they thought two in such close proximity was a good idea in the first place!

  5. Sorry for the employees

  6. They are closing alot of stores. Last year they closed 4 in the East SFV. My friend worked at one of them :(

  7. We will miss it. It’s within walking distance of my house.

  8. Kim Hudson Kim Hudson says:

    Why are the closing?

  9. This store is VERY under-performing. It’s selection is sad and the store is usually dirty. Employees are super nice and this is “Ralphs”…. but the one at Hasley is cleaner and nicer. Capitalism at it’s finest.

  10. Sophie Sidky Sophie Sidky says:

W-Why? I mean, it’s kind of good that there’s two. There’s one for old town and one for the newer side.

Can’t say I’m completely surprised, but it still sucks big time.

  11. What a kick in the teeth to local community who supported the store for over 20 years. Hopefully, an enterprising and consumer friendly market will take over the location.

  12. Oh no. Aaron Nelson. Is this your store?

  13. Hate to see it go.. for all of us up here in Frazier Park, it was the closest supermarket. Hoping a Vons or Pavilions takes over.

  14. The one at Hasley can be tricky to get to with the roundabout right there. But hey, that shopping center at Lake Hughes couldn’t even support a Burger King. Bet the people that get stuck in the occasional Grapevine closures won’t be happy…

  15. This is not good for us in that area of Castaic.

  16. Hopefully it’s replaced immediately by another grocery store .

  17. Castaic needs more than one grocery store. Hopefully a new updated store will come in.

  18. Been there but its a terrible location. Only one way in and out. Lot of other stores near it are closing too!

  19. Joe Leslie says:

Castaic Rd Ralph’s has a large parking lot Hasley is half the size. Castaic Rd Ralph’s is covenant for the truckers Hasley will have no trucker buissiness. Castaic Rd Ralph’s is close to the lake Hasley is not. Castaic Rd Ralph’s is next door to a old age home which is very covenant for them Hasley is not. Castaic Rd Ralph’s is at the bottom of the Grapevine which is convenant for travelers Hasley is not. A full service car wash is opening directly across the street from the Castaic Rd Ralph’s. Close Hasley and remoldel Castaic Rd Ralph’s. Hasley is going to be to busy with limited parking!

  20. Michelle Lea Michelle Lea says:

Transfer the employees to other stores instead of laying off, to many people are out of work already.

  21. Michelle Lea Michelle Lea says:

Put in a Winco much cheaper prices.

  22. That’s good for Gallions Market. Parker and Castaic Roads. Great Sandwiches

  23. Nic Miller Nic Miller says:

That’s a bummer, the beer choices are pretty decent and no crowds

  24. Employees will be transferred to other stores, where they will bump those with less seniority to the unemployment line. Poor management in that store. I have seen it go down hill over the last 9 years.

  25. John Gilbert John Gilbert says:

Capitalistic Dawinism. Gotta keep the Stockholders dividends coming. The bright side is that it seems that more business are opening in the abandoned shops the strip malls of Santa Clarita. Whether that’s due to small businesses getting loans because interest rates are up, OR the economy is crankin’…we’ll have to wait for a year and see how many are still open.

  26. We’re hoping another Grocer will come in. But the Rumor Mills are saying the Bldg’s Owner want to put a hotel in there. Just what we need, ya right!

  27. Wonder if walmart has eyes on the property.
