Valencia, Zone 5

Zone 5-Valencia had 14 Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included a battery on a person, residential/vehicle burglaries and shoplifting from local businesses.

A battery on a person occurred on the 24400 block of Town Center Drive. A fight occurred between two juveniles resulting in the victim hitting his head on the ground. The victim was treated for his injury and a male suspect and subject were arrested in connection with this incident.

A residential burglary occurred on the 24100 block of Del Monte Drive between the hours of 9:00 pm and 10:00 am. The items stolen were two bicycles from an underground parking structure. Both bicycles were locked and chained. This is the second report documented in this area for bike theft. Please use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings when securing your bicycles. Keep the serial number of your bicycle on file in the event that it is stolen to aid in its recovery. If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There were three vehicle burglaries that occurred in various areas of Valencia this past week during the early morning hours. The victims reported that their passenger window had been smashed by an unknown object. Items stolen were a cell phone and IPOD which were located in the backseat or center console area of the vehicles.

Once again I urge everyone to please take careful steps to not become a victim. If you are out and about in the evening, try and park your vehicles in well-lit areas. Be mindful of your surroundings. Take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not place items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel.

Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle. Do not leave valuables such as purses, wallets or cell phones unattended in public areas like shopping carts, benches or counters. There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included battery, spousal assault, petty theft, and shoplifting from local businesses.
