Several retailers at the Westfield Valencia Town Center are closing their doors due to a lack of performance, according to officials with the companies.
Brookstone in Valencia Town Center is closing at the end of the month, said Pauline Collins, public relations manager for the company.
“Brookstone evaluates store performance on an ongoing basis and operates (more than) 250 retail stores in shopping malls and airports nationwide,” she said.
Ben Bridge Jeweler inside the mall also closed at the beginning of the year, after 10 years at that location.
They opened at the end of 2003, said Marc Bridge, vice president of marketing, but were not able to renew their lease for 2014.
“All of our special orders or repairs are all available to pick up in the Northridge store,” Bridge said.
The Abercrombie and Fitch location in Valencia Town Center has also reportedly closed.
The store could be reached by phone on Wednesday, but the location is no longer listed on the Abercrombie and Fitch website.
The next closest store is in Northridge.
Tom Miller, Westfield Valencia general manager, said in a previous interview that his goal for the shopping center is to attract businesses “that make it interesting and create a little bit of buzz,” he said. “(We want to) give people a reason not to drive over the hill.”
Miller has only been with Westfield Valencia since December, but he said that he sees the mall has central to the SCV, and he wants to continue to strive for excellence.
“We want this to be the fabric of the community,” he said.
