Former COC Cougar Caylin Hauptmann, a member of the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks, will take part in Super Bowl XLVIII in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday.
Hauptmann, a rookie offensive lineman from Florida International University, spent the 2009 season at College of the Canyons.
In what has been a roller coaster rookie season for the young lineman, Hauptmann began the 2013 campaign with the Cleveland Browns before being released and signed by the Seahawks in late September.
This is the third consecutive year, and fourth time overall, that a former College of the Canyons student-athlete has competed on Super Sunday on an active roster.
In 2013, defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga (1999-00) represented the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. In 2012, defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul (2007) hosted the Lombardi Trophy as a member of the Super Bowl XLVI Champion New York Giants. And, running back J.J. Arrington (01-02) was the first former Cougar to appear in a Super Bowl, as a member of the Arizona Cardinals in 2009.
