Dr. Joan Aschoff
Darrell Paulk, President and CEO of Child & Family Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Joan Aschoff was hired to fill the new position of Executive Vice President of Programs effective Jan. 13.
A passionate and results oriented health care executive, Aschoff has a reputation of improving the efficiency and performance of programs and departments by evaluating current processes and performance, identifying inefficiencies, implementing changes, and measuring and evaluating outcomes. Her responsibilities at Child & Family will include oversight of all programs, assuring quality care, seeking National Accreditation, and implementation of National Healthcare Reform.
Aschoff began her career in community mental health, and later moved into positions in managed behavioral health and financial services. Most recently she served in the role of Vice President, Lead Medical Director for Unum, where she was responsible for the western region medical department consisting of a multidisciplinary team of physicians. Prior to that, Aschoff served as Director and eventually Vice President of Clinical Operations for the western region of United Behavior Health (formerly PacifiCare), a company that manages behavioral health, employee assistance and disease management benefits in private and public sectors. In these roles, she was responsible for 24/7 operations with more than 150 employees in multiple sites across California and Oregon, an operating budget of $11 million, and all clinical operations including customer service, inpatient and outpatient case management, provider relations, and appeals and grievances. Aschoff received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University Fullerton and her Doctor of Psychology from Indiana State University.
Aschoff and her family reside in the Santa Clarita Valley, giving her the opportunity to utilize her talents in the community she calls home. She is a welcome addition to Child & Family Center.
