Valencia, Zone 5

Zone 5-Valencia had nineteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included residential/vehicle burglaries, and shoplifting from local businesses.

A residential burglary occurred on the 24200 block of Vista Hills Drive between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm. Entry was made through the second story bathroom by smashing the window with an unknown object. Exit was made through the back sliding glass door as evidence of it being unlocked. Items stolen were a video camera, a DVD player, and numerous pieces of jewelry from the master bedroom area. A second residential burglary occurred on the 28400 Evergreen Lane between the hours of 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Entry and exit was made by smashing the kitchen window with an unknown object. Items stolen were silver and gold coins from a lock box which was located in the master bedroom.

There were seven vehicle burglaries that occurred in various areas of Valencia, mainly on Tuesday night and Wednesday mornings, between the hours of 7:00 pm and 8:00 am. Victims reported that the rear passenger windows had been smashed by an unknown object. Items stolen were third row back seats, an Apple/IPAD, a Garmin GPS, Coach sunglasses, a wallet containing credits, and a semi auto gun with ammo bag. Most of the items were stolen from the center console and backseat areas of the vehicles.

I urge everyone to please take careful steps to not become a victim. Be mindful of your surroundings and if possible park your vehicles in well-lit areas. Take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not place items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle.

Bicycle theft is on the rise. Most victims have reported their bikes were locked at bike racks and that the locks/chains were cut off. Please use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings when securing your bicycles. Keep the serial number of your bicycle on file in the event that it is stolen to aid in its recovery.

If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121. There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included assault on a person, drunk in public, possession of narcotics and shoplifting from local businesses.
