1962 - Walt Disney donates bison herd to Hart Park [story]
Bison

Detectives at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station have learned in recent weeks of a woman going door to door in residential neighborhoods throughout our valley. The woman says her name is Sirena Sanchez and says she is collecting donations for Children’s Hospital in order to purchase books.

One victim reported that “Sirena Sanchez” spoke with a speech impediment.  When a cash donation was received, “Sirena Sanchez” issued a receipt.  Upon examination, it was discovered the business name on the receipt does not appear to be linked with a legitimate charitable organization.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detectives began an investigation into the legitimacy of this female collecting money on behalf of Children’s Hospital and the organization she claimed to work for.  Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the female shown in the attached surveillance photo.  This female is a person of interest in this investigation and detectives would like to locate her for questioning.

If you recognize the female in the photo or have any further information that can assist in this investigation, please contact Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Sgt. J. Anderson at 661-255-1121 or at jranders@lasd.org.

If you would like to remain anonymous, please call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

We always encourage residents to immediately report criminal or suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. If you have fallen victim to what you believe is a scam, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121. We encourage you to stay engaged with helping us keep Santa Clarita safe.

Yep!!! She waited for me to pull up to my house and I was forced to talk to her!! I couldn’t avoid her! Please don’t fall for what she is saying

  16. What areas has she been coming to

  17. … That’s horrible. Children’s Hospital saved my life with 3 open heart surgeries. And the truth is those little kids really could use the money for books and other toys.. Horrible people in this world don’t know how good they have it

  18. If she shows up at my door I’ll open just so I can slam it on her!! Sick people in this world!!! I dare her to come to my house, she won’t get a chance to talk!!!

  19. Michelle Lea Michelle Lea says:

Just be careful and be aware everyone.

  20. She looks like the same lady that came to our door during the holidays but her pitch was her grandma past away. She brought her kids. I one of my neighbor saw the husband outside our gate waiting for her and pushing a baby stroller.

  21. This is why I don’t answer my door. You never know if it’s a scammer or a freak.

  22. Nic Miller Nic Miller says:

Hand her a hockey stick and tell her to go play on Soledad

  23. I would let her stay outside and tell her I need to talk to husband so he can write a check and call the cops

  24. Ckay Walker Ckay Walker says:

I am surprised at all the rude judgmental comments. Yes, she has been using an illegal way to earn an income and should be curtailed. Her and her husband should pay for the misrepresentation and monies obtained. Be alert but to wish harm or ill will is disturbing.

  25. Not only would I be annoyed to see her! But the fact that she’s steeling from children who are really I’ll makes me sick!!

  26. Well she’s not taking the money from the children, but lying to obtain monies that otherwise would be for the children in need is beyond wrong.

  27. @miria max you should always make your presence known-as annoying as the door to door people are, some are checking houses in the day and if you’re “not home” they may try to break in.

  28. Actually, she may have come to my door a couple of years ago, maybe. Put a sign by your door that says “no soliciting” and all you have to do is point at that sign and they are required by law to leave.

  29. Heather Levy Heather Levy says:

Ckay Walker there was really only one comment wishing her harm. The others were just pointing out that its disgusting what she is doing…and it absolutely is. Saying they are going to call the cops is not judgemental. Its absolutely wrong what they are doing. If they are unable to find a job there are programs that can help. If they still wish to panhandle then they should stand on a corner at least that is honest.

  30. May have been in Castaic just now. If you “donated” to her call the sheriff to report your losses.

  31. So many Legitimate charities are thieving as well. Its a sad world.
