“Understanding and Filing Taxes” will be the topic covered in the LifeForward workshop sponsored by Zonta Club of SCV on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Savia Community Center, 23780 Newhall Ave. The free workshops are designed to assist local women with lifestyle, family and career issues.
Presenter will be Zonta President Laura Peckham, CPA. She will cover allowable tax credits and requirements, as well as basic tax information. “There are tax changes every year that impact us all,” Peckham reminded potential participants.
Free childcare is available for women who register in advance at (661) 288-0117. Spanish translation also can be provided. Women who arrive by the 10 a.m. start time are entered in a drawing for a free gift certificate
Future LifeForward workshops for 2014 include “Your Health & Wellbeing,” March 15; “Women’s Health Issues,” April 26; “Divorce and Family Law Issues,” May 17; and “Sources of Child Support,” June 21.
Zonta offers the free LifeForward workshops on a monthly basis, in cooperation with Single Mothers Outreach, Domestic Violence Center, Los Angeles County Department of Child & Family Services and Habitat for Humanity/SFV/SCV Returning Women Veterans. Workshops are organized by topics in which women express interest.

The problem is that regular taxpayers, like you, are missing out on legal and safe deductions, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed refunds every year! As a tax professional, it truly breaks my heart, knowing that just a few thousand, or even a few hundred bucks for us “regular guys” out of that vast pool of overcharging could make a world of difference–and they are just sitting there, unclaimed! And with the economy we’re facing now…it’s essential that the “right” professional handles your taxes, books, or other financial matters.
