WilliamGregoryBabb_StatePhoto[KHTS] – A registered sex offender was released Friday from North Kern State Prison, but his incarceration status had not been updated on the California Megan’s Law website as of Sunday night.

The felon is William Gregory Babb, 54, formerly of Valencia.

His registration on the Megan’s Law website was still listed as incarcerated, according to the website for registered sex offenders.

His most recent arrest was at the hands of the Long Beach Police Department on Oct. 16.

Date of Birth: 10-19-1960
Sex: MALE
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 280
Eye Color: BLUE
Hair Color: BROWN
Ethnicity: WHITE

Babb’s offense was listed as 288.4(b) of the California Penal Code, which states:

“Every person who, motivated by an unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in children, arranges a meeting with a minor or a person he or she believes to be a minor for the purpose of exposing his or her genitals or pubic or rectal area, having the child expose his or her genitals or pubic or rectal area, or engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding ($5,000), by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by both the fine and imprisonment.”

He was sentenced Oct. 21, and then transferred from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to the North Kern State Prison on Nov. 18.

The Megan’s Law website is [here].

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies help maintain the database by conducting address verifications.

“Locally, the Crime Prevention Unit zone leaders are responsible for conducting address-verification checks regularly,” said Sheriff’s Station Deputy Josh Dubin.

  24. Ann Lee says:

Once a registrant is released from prison, he has five business days in which to register with local law enforcement. Once that agency enters his new address in California’s state sex offender database, the address will appear on the public Megan’s Law website the next business day (www.meganslaw.ca.gov). FamilyWatchDog is not California’s official sex offender website.
