Proofread, don’t journalists do that anymore??? Sighting not citing.
nope
no money for a copy desk.
that wasn’t sarcastic at all…..butt hurt about your error much? Ha….
Huh? Seriously, we don’t have money for a copy desk. We’re a nonprofit and we make do with the resources we have. We do “crowd editing.” We know there are plenty of people out there who will call us idiots when we misepl things so then we fix it. :)
Natalie Sal – If you mean do our butts hurt when we make errors? Oh heck no, if they did, we’d be in constant pain.
no one called you an idiot…if anything she helped you out and corrected one of YOUR errors…you should be thanking her….
Just read the damn article, quit pointing out little mistakes. They are people too, haven’t you ever made a mistake? Guess not.
Glad they caught the loser, lock her up & throw away the key.
In this instance, “citing” is correct. Sighting is to see, citing is to state an instance.
“Citing” is correct; refers to quoting a reference. “Sighting” refers to seeing something.
You need a refresher in correct grammar.

That’s great! Michelle…this is great news! So nice to this! Shame on her for using the plight of disabled children to get a handout!
Is it illegal for the families to ask for money outside of stores? I see them all the time, with kids and all.

This happens a lot. Good for the person that called the Sheriff. We all should all ask for a “Peddler’s License” when people come to our door.
Actually, the context of the word is correct.

To the supposed proofreader about use of the word “sighting”– the way the story reads, a resident calling in about a “sighting” resulted in a “citing” by law enforcement. This looks correct to me. I don’t like mispellings either but when something isn’t committed to printed page, I think the rules can be a bit relaxed (webpage blog etc)
because the woman was “sighted” in Castaic, deputies were able to “cite” her. I don’t see an issue or mispelling here! And thanks to the provider of the doorway– name not mentioned to protect the innocent!–drop cam picture for law enforcement to use. I’m all for incorporating cameras in our neighborhood
I appreciate News items from Castaic. People forget we’re apart of the SCV too. As for the “Criminal”; make her serve work release at the Castaic Animal Shelter for six months and pay back the Community.
5 bucks says they gun her down too
I mispul thangs two! Arrest meh now mrs grammer nazi! Lol
On another note, thank you SCVTV for your updates! Great job! :)
Yay! Gotcha
@ Cheryl and Natalie. Lol! You must be related to my wife. You don’t even realize the Sheriff was called because the Castaic resident saw the woman. Sighting. Like when you spot someone. Hey Sheriff, I see this woman going door to door illegally. Sighting. Not citing. That came later lol. Hopefully these two get it. Haha. Probably not.
Yes, the words “sighting” and “citing” were used correctly in this article.
Misuse of words and typos are rampant in the news biz which is now largely run by children who’ve had little experience (aside from college). That’s only the START of so-called “news” the MSM offers us nowadays. God help us all.
(38-year veteran of TV news, including all the major networks and the BBC.)
Citing/sighted were used correctly. Whew now that that’s been clarified – glad the sighted woman was cited.
I’m not sure it’s the same girl but I had one come to my door last week doing the same exact thing. I didn’t know about the peddlers liscence. I’m going to ask for it from now on that is on the rare chance I open my door for them. This one caught me off guard going out my door.
Good job
That’s why I don’t open my front door anymore. So many scammers.
Also hate people pretending to be with Sheriff SCV peddling for donations.
Hate liars. Hate criminals.
