Sophomore guard Shawn Kolani scored a career-high 30 points to lead the College of the Canyons women’s basketball team past LA Pierce College, 103-87, on Saturday night. The victory marks the first time this season that COC has eclipsed the 100+ point mark.
With the victory, the Cougars improved to 10-12 on the season and 4-3 in conference, while LA Pierce dropped to 14-10 overall and 2-5 in Western State Conference, North Division, play.
Sophomore forward Keiona Mathews turned in 25 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, while dishing out four assists and adding three steals. Freshman Jordan Oster scored a career-high 17 points off the bench, for her second consecutive game with double-digit scoring. Kolani also turned in 10 assists, for her sixth double-digit assist performance and fifth double-double.
The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 5 as they host Santa Barbara City College at 5 p.m.
