The Master’s College men’s basketball team fell to GSAC rival Arizona Christian 81-70 Saturday afternoon in Phoenix.
With the loss, the Mustangs’ 2013-14 record simmers to 14-9, and 2-6 in conference play.
“I thought the kids played hard and gave themselves a chance in the second half,” commented seven-year head coach Chuck Martin. “We are struggling making shots from the perimeter right now. ACU’s Uqdah was really tough to handle tonight, and he was really the difference in the game.”
Uqdah’s spectacular performance led ACU’s scoring efforts by producing 33 points – 11-16 from the field, 5-9 behind the arc, and 6-6 from the charity stripe.
For the Mustangs, Korey Anderson (Clovis, CA) led the squad by posting 23 points and pulling down 10 boards. Derrick Fain (Dallas, TX) tallied 14 points, while Dominique Lanier (Lakewood, CA) chipped in 9 more.
As a team, the Mustangs went 22-52 (42%) from the field, 9-24 (37%) on three-pointers, and 17-27 (63%) on free throws.
Things don’t get any easier for the Mustangs as the squad now hosts No. 22 Concordia on Tuesday night at Bross Court. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
