Valencia, Zone 5

Zone 5-Valencia had twelve Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included an assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle burglaries, and numerous petty thefts from various areas.

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred in a residential area of Valencia in the early morning hours. The victim, a sixteen year old male who was allegedly intoxicated, was attacked by two unknown suspects while walking home. A physical altercation occurred resulting in the victim being stabbed in the stomach. The victim went home and then later went to the hospital but did not report the incident. After being notified by the hospital staff, deputies contacted the victim while he was being treated for his injuries. No arrest has been made in this incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Three vehicle burglaries occurred between 7:30 pm and 8:00 am during the week while vehicles were parked in residential and business areas. The victims reported that their passenger windows had been smashed by an unknown object. Items stolen were a lap top and purse, located in the backseat; a Garmin GPS located from the center console area and cash located in the glove compartment of the vehicles. Many of the items stolen were visible from outside the vehicles.

Vehicle burglaries continue to be a problem. Take careful steps to not become a victim. Be mindful of your surroundings and where you park your vehicle. DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS VISIBLE IN YOUR VEHICLE! Take all personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not leave items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel or blankets. Thieves know this technique. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle.

There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included, drunk in public, possession of narcotics, and shoplifting from local businesses.
