[KHTS] – Two people suspected of stealing a car were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after a brief police pursuit ended in a crash without serious injury Wednesday afternoon.

The two suspects, who were not injured in the crash, are expected to be booked on auto theft charges, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official said.

Deputies spotted the stolen vehicle in Valencia at 4:53 p.m., said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“They first saw the vehicle on Town Center Drive in the mall area,” Bryski said. “Then they notified other deputies that they were following a stolen vehicle.”

After deputies turned on their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to perform a traffic stop, the vehicle took off, Bryski said.

“The pursuit part was less than two minutes,” Bryski said. The crash happened at 4:56 p.m., Bryski said.

The driver of the stolen car, a gray Nissan Altima, then turned onto Magic Mountain Parkway and then onto Creekside Road, where it collided with a car near Auto Center Drive, officials said.

The suspects were not injured in the crash, officials said, but were taken to the hospital for an undisclosed reason.

The driver of the vehicle in the collision with the stolen car complained of a headache, but refused medical treatment, officials said.
