1962 - Walt Disney donates bison herd to Hart Park [story]
Bison

During the afternoon hours on Wednesday, May 7, a patrol deputy assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Interstate 5 and Templin Highway in the unincorporated area of the Santa Clarita Valley. During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle was escorted to the rear seat of the deputies patrol car. Once inside the deputies patrol vehicle, the male suspect kicked out the rear window of the patrol vehicle he was placed in and ran across the entire freeway to escape sheriff’s deputies.

METHPatrol deputies discovered approximately 88 pounds of methamphetamine inside the suspect’s vehicle. More than two dozen sheriff’s deputies searched the valleys and ravines off the southbound side of the freeway as two sheriff’s helicopters assisted with the search from the air. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s K-9 responded to the area and also assisted in the search for the suspect who fled.

On Thursday, May 8, at approximately 8 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station received reports that the male suspect was again seen walking in the area. Deputies again took to searching the area, with the assistance of an LASD helicopter and California Highway Patrol Officers. At approximately 10:30 p.m. the male suspect was located and taken into custody by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station Deputies near the Paradise Ranch Mobile Home Park inside of an empty water tank.

The male – his name is not being released at this time pending further investigation – was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on narcotics related charges.

No further information is available at this time. This is an active, ongoing investigation.

  7. Man we live in the ghetto

  8. Dear Melissa Power:

Visit an actual ghetto. Look around. Realize that the SCV is the farthest thing from a ghetto you can imagine.

  9. Melissa Power lol you wanna see the ghetto take a flight to the core of chicago try and go for a night walk you will learn what ghetto is.

  10. @ Melissa, you’re apparently a snob, which is a shame because you really should try to be better for your children. Quit talking crap about my town. If it’s not good enough for you, you are welcome to go somewhere else.

  11. Soy Pleites Soy Pleites says:

Melissa Power go to compton or South Central. I recommend it.

  12. WOW. Templin Highway is long way from Santa Clarita.

  13. Yeah templin is by Frazier park or farther

  14. No wonder it’s dry out here right now : (

  15. I grew up in a ghetto, it’s nothing like SCV in it’s worst areas. Still, I don’t think berating or name calling someone for referring to an area they live in as such due to criminal or drug related activity is necessary. I don’t believe you have to be a snob to have concerns about the negative occurrences that happen where you live.

  17. Templin Hwy is only 30 miles up the freeway from city hall. Way before Frazier Park, or Gormon even.

  18. OMG leave Melissa alone. she has a right to her own opinion. I love Santa Clarita myself but still if Melissa feels that way she has that right.

  19. The ghetto people make it and the rich ,well to do kids in Santa Clarita use it .

Wow not one of you thanked the sheriff department….. G maybe it might be that no one truly gives a s*** fast like this only do PR work for the sheriff’s department traffic stop my ass this was planned coordinated and more than likely a decoy for a much larger shipment from being able to say that I’ve survived the drug culture it pains me to see one of the most prettiest places I’ve ever known to deteriorate so quickly long story short they sold you the bone not the rib

  22. Yeah! LOVE to see that crap off the streets. Hats off to them! Good job!

  23. Melissa absolutely has the right to voice her opinions. I could care less about someone saying anything negative about our little beige suburban bubble. But comparing any town to “the ghetto” is ridiculous, and obviously comes off as a snooty “oh my god, like, ghetto people are the ones doing drugs not us UGG boot wearing white girls” statement.

  24. Also, that pile of meth looks as though it could be sewn together into a nice quilt.

  25. Wow Cant we all just take the story for what it is No need for getting crazy We all are adults Every place has good and bad . Thankful its off the streets Might have just saved a life or 2. You cant control what others say but you can control how you respond and act.

  39. Drop in the proverbial bucket, those 88 pounds will be replaced shortly. The drugs being missing might just cause more inflation and fighting, deaths.

To comment on the ghetto part. Here’s my opinion. Scv is not ghetto. And there is the problem. Its now a stuck up . Upper class that cant relize what is happening in their town. Growing up here 20 yrs ago this place was totally different. We knew what happened where and so did the cops. Being stuck up and not knowing the live of the beat thats was sad….

  50. It’s Great that everyone has there own opinion. It was A Great Job the Deputies have done by confiscating the meth. It keeps more People From deteriorating there Brains, the Brain in the Best Computer in & on this Planet. A lot of People haven’t Figured that out yet, Because, there mind cannot work correctly. It is totally out of connection with there spirit .
