Disney recently presented a $104,000 gift to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation to underwrite the remodeling of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Emergency Department Waiting and Admitting pediatric area, enabling the hospital to further provide the best care for its youngest patients.

The gift, presented to Diana Vose, Foundation President, and Vivian Zinn, Emergency Department Director, is the largest donation ever made to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital by The Walt Disney Company.

disneyhenrymayo060914“Disney has been an important supporter of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital,” said Diana Vose, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President. “Corporate philanthropy is essential in order to assist our hospital acquire the most updated equipment and technology. Disney’s gift demonstrates its continued commitment to the health and well-being of our community.”

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital continues to expand to keep pace with the community it serves. With this support from Disney, the hospital has enhanced vital services allowing patients access to excellent healthcare close to home, including the hospital’s most vulnerable and precious patients – children.

“Over 10,000 children are treated every year in our Emergency Department,” said Vivian Zinn, Director of the Emergency Department at Henry Mayo. “Our pediatric patients and their families will benefit from this incredible gift from Disney.”

Disney aims to enrich the lives of kids and families by providing happiness, hope and laughter to those who need it most. This tradition dates back to the 1930s when Walt himself would visit with children, often accompanied by Disney characters and animators.  To build upon this time-honored tradition, Disney-themed art will be installed in the Children’s Area of the ER Waiting Room to provide comfort for guests, while demonstrating Disney’s long-standing commitment to children’s well-being and health.

Henry Mayo Holding Teddy Bear Drive To Comfort Children“Disney proudly celebrates the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation’s steadfast efforts to enhance healthcare delivery for children and families in Santa Clarita Valley,” said Kevin Callahan, Disney Corporate Citizenship Vice President of Community and Engagement. “Together, our shared belief in the power of imagination and creativity has strengthened the community, and provided a transformational sense of comfort and healing to families when they need it most.”

The need for the ER Waiting/Admitting area remodel came as a result of the implementation of the “Nurse First” program by the Henry Mayo Emergency Department. ED patients are now met by a nurse when they first enter the Emergency Room – decreasing the patients’ waiting time from arrival to meeting with the physician. ER waiting times are posted live on the hospital’s website henrymayo.com.

Slated for completion in September 2014, the remodel will feature a remodeled children’s area, a new “Nurse First ” workstation, a new sitting area, a new security desk, and will help ensure timely pediatric emergency and trauma care.

    Worst hospital ever

  5. 104,000?? That’s all!!!?!? They make that money in 3 minutes with all the cost hike. I think one million would be a donation. I agree that this hospital sucks!!!

  6. Why $104,000? Why not $105,000?

  7. Just wait until you get a bill for your visit to the ER, hope you don’t have Medi-Cal. All the donations and the community gets ER bills going into the thousands. The doctors that work there, don’t generally accept Medi-Cal and they don’t tell you that when they start recommending all the state of the art testing they have.

  8. May be they can buy them some customer service.

  9. May be you should get off gov insurance and buy your own Karen

  10. Dislike this hospital…….wouldn’t allow paramedics to transfer my daughter there there. Nor would I take my dog there. Holy Cross, level 2 trauma…….so much better. Sorry. Know better. Yes, more about peds and OB.

  11. Michelle Lea Michelle Lea says:

At least Disney gave a donationthey did not have to.

  12. I’m happy for the hospital. But dont get confused… Beside how fast DISNEY can meke that money. They did not make that donation. DISNEY’s customers did. When you buy your ticket the cashier ask you to donate your change. That donation is just a TAX DEDUCTIBLE for DISNEY thanks to DISNEY’s customer!!!

  14. Didn’t they just remodel? Aren’t they supposed to be tearing down the old ER and building a modern hospital tower? Isn’t that why our city council approved the three mega non-hospital office buildings to be built? I guess a modern hospital is not in the cards for the future. Thankfully, Holy Cross is 10 minutes away.

  15. I left SCV in 2006. They were working on the ER when I left. Interesting it is STILL being worked on.

  16. Ryan Shaffer Ryan Shaffer says:

I agree with Stefano. Their customer service sucks. Even FD doesn’t trust those doctors. They made my 4 week old son wait for 4hrs to be seen. Then transferred him Northridge because they couldn’t help him. Thankfully Northridge doctors knew what they were doing.

  17. Maybe they Can Buy a better cleaning crew Around the clock, instead of having blood splattered all over the walls and curtains

  18. My family has never had any problems with Henry Mayo…..

  19. Julia Vose Julia Vose says:

I recently had a stay there and everything was wonderful. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and sweet. I am thrilled to have a trauma hospital in our community.

  20. We went there a bit ago at 3 in the morning with our 17 year old. I was blow away with the kindness and how helpful they were.. I am so glad we had somewhere to go ASAP . It’s the only place we have in SCV let’s try to make it the best we can . I am glad Disney did that for any reason .. We will gladly take it!!!!
