[KHTS] – A Santa Clarita Valley veteran is set to receive a Quilt of Valor Thursday for his service.
Terry Baird of Saugus, a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, was nominated through the Quilts of Valor Foundation by staff at Parkway Motorcars, where he currently acts as a senior shuttle coordinator.
“This cause is a fantastic vehicle to honor our veterans and show our appreciation for their service to our country,” said Parkway Motorcars spokesman Gerald Wheeler.
The QOV Foundation is a nonprofit organization that hand-sews quilts and presents them to veterans.
Their mission is “to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor,” according to their website.
Baird served in the 6th Battalion 32nd Artillery Division of the U.S. Army for two years, Wheeler said.
After his military service, Baird worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years until retirement, moving on to serve as the senior shuttle coordinator for Parkway Infiniti in Valencia for the last 10 years.
He is set to be presented with his quilt at Parkway Infiniti Thursday afternoon.
