collision_crash_tc[KHTS] – A woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning while jogging on Orchard Village Road.

The collision occurred at about 11 a.m. at Orchard Village an 16th Street, officials said.

“The female jogger was trying to cross the street and was struck by a vehicle,” said Sgt. Cortland Myers of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “She is listed in critical condition at the hospital.”

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to the scene and transported the victim to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, said Art Marrujo, LA Fire dispatch supervisor.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

No information about the driver of the vehicle is currently available but no arrests have been made in the incident, said Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Sheriff’s Station.

The incident is the second vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the Santa Clarita Valley this week. Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on Sierra Highway near Scherzinger Lane in Canyon Country Tuesday night.

The Canyon Country collision left Munir Jeryous Albichara, 65, dead and Kari Nay-Kennedy, 26, in critical condition.

This type of accident is getting ridiculous. It’s more and more prevalent than I can remember.

Happening all over the country everyday….cell phones? Texting? Smoking pot..stoned? ….accidents and run overs…

  5. Does anyone know what happened off Plum Cyn? Street pole knocked over, obviously a car accident, but I did not hear exactly what or who was involved.

  6. This is friggin crazy how many people are getting hit…. come on people pay attention!!!! Right Lisa Lehman is it cell phone’s being high…. .?

  7. Cathy says:

Not sure what happened? Was she crossing the street in the crosswalk with the green light?
Was the car making a right turn, turning into her and not seeing her because of cell phone usage? Or did the driver blow the red light because they were using a cell phone and didn’t notice the light had turned red? I think cell phones are killing more people than anything. They have totally distracted the drivers of this valley. I don’t think the driver was high, I think they were using a cell phone.

  8. All they need to do is click “follow post” at the top right.
Liking things like this does seem disrespectful IMO, especially to family or friends of the victims who might end up reading this.

  9. Our speed limits are pretty fast. Runners should use the Paseo for safety. Too many accidents lately. Tragic. People just aren’t watching. I am afraid to cross the street even at a light.

  10. It isn’t always the driver’s fault. So many times I see pedestrians jaywalking when the nearest crosswalk is not far away.

  11. What was the latest on the condition of the lady from September 23rd who was in critical condition when hit at soledad and sierra hwy?
