Telly’s in Castaic hosted a car show Saturday to celebrate the restaurant’s sixth anniversary and raise some funds for a relative battling cancer.
About 80 classic cars and several motorcycles were on display around the restaurant while attendees enjoyed live music from rock band “Hard Water,” food, vendors, a raffle and silent auction.
“This is our six-year anniversary at this location and it’s one of those things I love to celebrate every year,” said Lora Higgins, the restaurant’s manager. “Just because we’re a 50’s decorated diner and there’s the old generation and the new generation, I like to have them see the old way and not just the new way.”
Proceeds from the event are going toward a cause close to Higgins’ heart: her sister-in-law, Maggie Freeman, who is battling pancreatic cancer.
“Today we’re celebrating and trying to help our sister who has pancreatic cancer,” she said. “So all the entries from this are going to help her.”
While Telly’s staff host “cruisings” every Friday, this is only the second time Higgins has hosted the event.
“Last year was our five years and I said I was going to celebrate it with a big bang,” she said. “We had a really big one last year and so this year everybody asked me to do it again. They enjoyed it.”
