1930 - Telephone switchboard operator Louise Gipe, heroine of the 1928 St. Francis Dam disaster, tries & fails to kill herself over an unrequited love [story]
Louise Gipe

One day after the Nov. 4 election, retiring U.S. Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon’s Santa Clarita Valley home showed up for sale on the local Multiple Listing Service.

The single-family house in the 27000 block of Timberline Terrace in Valencia-Westridge is advertised for $1.2 million through Mike Lebecki, a Realtor with RE/MAX of Valencia.

McKeon and wife Patricia purchased the 4-bedroom, 3,539-square-foot  home new in December 2003 from developer Centex. In 2007 the couple transferred it to their family trust.

Previously they had lived on Joyce Place in Stevenson Ranch. They sold that home in August 2002.

The Westridge home is believed to be McKeon’s only residence in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The property listing comes on the heels of the vote to decide McKeon’s successor in Congress. The 11-term congressman returns to Washington for a lame-duck session that ends in December; then his 25th Congressional District seat will go to Palmdale Sen. Steve Knight.

Where that leaves Knight’s Senate seat has yet to be determined, Knight said, adding that he’d be surprised if there were an appointment.

  1. I wouldn’t blame him if he left California

  2. 1.2 mil and a backyard that is smaller than the front. what a great deal…said no one ever

  3. That doesn’t look like a 1.2 mil home?

  4. Suckers! Would only pay that much $ for this house

  5. Welcome to Westridge, thus another reason I wouldn’t blame him if he left CA

Is the 1.2 to watch your neighbors… Does it have a slide. An Elevator

  7. That’s a steal in Valencia

  8. Stephen Gold Stephen Gold says:

That house is worth 309K. 8675-309 niner

  9. Kingman Az., Arizona’s secret..

  10. Frank Rosas what you think about this

  12. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass, Buck.

  13. Bree Shields Bree Shields says:

I used to live next door to him when he lived in Stevenson ranch :)

  14. Very similar house in north upland listed for 680,000 sold for 675,000

  15. 1.2 mil??? Give me a break!!!! Does he think someone will buy his house for that much just cuz he lived there? I should hope not!!!!

  16. Lol. What did the guy do wrong?

  17. Wonder if a military industrial complex lobbyist will buy it?

  18. Matt Skinner Matt Skinner says:

The point of the story is the timing of the listing. McKeon hasn’t lived in this town since he got elected and moved to DC – but he had to have a residence here to keep his congressional seat.
It will be interesting to see where he goes.

  19. Dan Lipman Dan Lipman says:

$830,000 is the zillow estimate. Greed, greed, greed.

  20. Adam Powers Adam Powers says:

Lol at everyone going off of the Zillow estimate. Zillow consistently is WAY off whem you run comps.

  21. Certainly explains why he wasn’t concerned enough about Cemex to get anything done. He never intended to return here, so he wouldn’t have to live with it.

  22. Would love to see the video tour of the inside

  23. He has to sell it, he can no longer walk up the inside staircase…lol

  24. Chris Kramer Chris Kramer says:

Maybe he’s hoping on celebrity value. Like PT Barnum said, there’s a sucker born every minute.

  25. Remember he is a person and still has family that lives in this valley. So sad to see how quick people are to judge.
