false-report-prompts-deputies-to-find-charlize-theron-sean-penn-Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau deputies responded to Vasquez Rocks for what turned out to be a false report that movie stars Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were allegedly mistreating their 2-year-old son, officials said Thursday.

“They were there enjoying the park and enjoying the sunrise. Theron and Penn were walking around with their dogs on a leash and their child (Jackson),” said Johnny Jones, public information officer for the LASD Parks Bureau. “Somebody heard the child crying or screaming and thought that something happened with the child. They were concerned for the child’s safety.”

The call came in at 6:41 a.m. Thursday morning, he said. County Parks Bureau deputies were sent out to the location.

“Everybody’s OK. Everybodys good,” Jones said. “There was no (law) broken, and everyone was amicable.”

  1. Apparently, i’m out of the loop because i didn’t realize they had a kid together!!!???

  2. @sarah, I think she adopted and maybe they are raising him together?

  3. Me too. Didn’t even know they were an item.

  4. we saw him at Vons this am buying stuff…. Weird

  5. This is just silly. 2 year olds squeal and scream, cry and throw tantrums. Remember the child abuse witch hunts in the 80’s that resulted in many, many innocent parents being separated from their children? It feels like the same type of thing is going to happen again.

  6. John Fortman John Fortman says:

I suspect this is nothing more than self-seeking star-struck behavior by someone who should mind their own business

  7. Do they live nearby? I find it odd to be hiking so early in am with such a young kid. Maybe they’re avid hikers?

  8. Mary Cain Mary Cain says:

Damn they were at the Vons by my house and I missed them.

  9. Glad I don’t work the Canyon Country DCFS office anymore!

  10. Some times we should mind out own I think it’s pretty clear when children are being abused in public or not

  11. When did they have a kid together????? I didn’t even know they were a couple!

  12. He’s adopted. Too bad this happened in our community.

  13. Just waiting for her to dump him so I can move in.

  14. Ppl need to mind there own business and look after their own kids

  15. I I’ve here it sucks

  16. She adopted him before the relationship !!

  17. Seriously? They can’t even enjoy a day out with the family huh? I am so glad I am not in that line of work. That must be annoying.

  18. He is her child through adoption. They are a couple but I hadn’t heard he also adopted the child. Good for them though. The child will always have a roof over his head unlike his future in Africa where he was born.

  19. Today show just reported the story…. a fellow hiker called the sheriffs when he heard the boy screaming and crying…. ended up he was throwing a temper tantrum… imagine if people called the sheriff’s everytime your child had a fit.

  20. Jeanne says:

Lot’s of stars live down Sand Cyn. Leave them alone if you see them. We have so many movies and shows shot out here what is the big deal?

Sometimes people forget how kids through fits at 2 years old.

  21. Jeanne says:

    I meant throw fits, sorry.

  22. Scott says:

I though that POS communist Penn was living in Venezuela. Or may he moved back here after his buddy Chavez died. It’s easy to hate American capitalism when you’re rich I suppose; Michael Moore syndrome. Theron is an outspoken advocate for gun control, yet her life was saved by a gun. Makes perfect sense. Both these hypocritical narcissists can please GTFO of the SCV.
