Guillermo Lomelí Ceniceros
[District Attorney] – A homeless man was charged today with attempting to kidnap and rape a 13-year-old girl from a Santa Clarita bus bench, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Guillermo Lomelí Ceniceros (dob 2/24/75) faces five felony counts: one count each of attempted kidnapping to commit rape, attempted kidnapping for child molesting and lewd act upon a child; and two counts of attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Arraignment was scheduled for today, but it was continued to Dec. 10 in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. The defendant is charged in case PA082484.
Prosecutors said Ceniceros grabbed the young girl as she sat on a bus bench near Sierra Highway and Jakes Way on Nov. 12. As the defendant allegedly began dragging the victim away, a good Samaritan driving by yelled at him to stop and the girl managed to run away.
If convicted as charged, Ceniceros faces a maximum possible sentence of 13 years in state prison. Bail was set at more than $3 million.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Clarita Station.

No, actually that is incorrect. I have had many encounters with the homeless and they could’ve been criminals, but I don’t think to ask them that. I am fortunate, and instead of judging the homeless, I use my privilege to try and help.
Regardless, I’m glad the girl is safe and that this has a happy ending.
Melanie it is not a matter of judging someone who is homeless. Did you read the article? Obviously not. The poor victim here is NOT the homeless person. You are punishing the true victim again by refusing to acknowledge that the criminal is just that, regardless of being homeless.

Has the supposed victim stepped forward yet? As of yesterday no one had and I hadn’t heard anything recently that said she had. I’m just wondering how they are charging someone with attempted kidnapping/rape without the victims testimony….or are we not following the book anymore in this town?!?!
There were two reports that explained the victim came forward. I think in scvtv report and antelope valley report.
Hope everyone is happy they voted for Prop 47 . That turns these felony charges into misdemeanors. This poor victim will get to live with the fact that Californians voted for the rights of the criminal over hers.
You obviously didn’t read the proposition, prop 47 is for some NON-VIOLENT crimes. Kidnap and rape is in fact a violent crime the last time I checked. Go be an idiot somewhere else and check your facts before you post this utter garbage.

Also, there are 5 counts of felony violent crimes being charged so even if the DA tried a plea bargain, I’m sure he wouldn’t “walk free”.

Correct everything he did in this attack is a felony. However the day (or two) before this attack he was caught at stater brothers stealing beer and other items which before prop 47 was a felony, now it was a misdemeanor he was ticketed and let go.
Prop 47 is only going to make people more bold in their crimes. Stealing a gun was a felony, guess what, now it’s not.

He was released just before this incident guided by the new prop 47. He was not the only one….
And for all who wanted more gun control… Well prop 47 now makes possession of a gun a misdemeanor as opposed to a felony.
In short, California voters just made the punishment for being in possession of a firearm less severe, but cry about gun control.
Non- violent offenders are perfectly capable of committing violent crimes as well. If the voters say release them then ok…
Then hold the shock when this type of incidents occur.

I saw this happen right as the girl was being helped by the Good Samaritan. At first I thought the young girl knew the man because she didn’t do anything. She just sat there. I was about to find out what was going on when I noticed a black car pull up, and she got in it. The homeless guy just stayed there by the bus stop. I didn’t know the girl had been attacked by him. There may be places where this law needs to be tweaked but the decision of voters to move toward reducing charges and sentences is going on all over the country not just California.
