logo-lacodistrictattorney[KHTS] – A Santa Clarita man was ordered to stand trial Thursday on charges he repeatedly raped his daughter over a 12-month period about five years ago.

Daniel Bryant Wisehart, 47, of Santa Clarita, was charged with 30 counts in connection with an alleged sexual relationship with his daughter while she was under the age of 14.

The prosecution filed a complaint accusing Wisehart of one count of lewd acts upon a child and 29 counts of rape against the victim.

The victim’s mother found out about the allegations in May, and Wisehart was arrested, according to testimony presented in court.

Wisehart faced a preliminary hearing Thursday, which is when the evidence against a suspect is formally presented in court, and a judge determines if there is enough evidence in order to stand trial.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Emily Cole of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The incest-rape charges were investigated by the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Wisehart was arrested May 15 at 11:50 a.m., according to Sheriff’s Department arrest records. He’s been in custody since his arrest.

The complaint filed alleges the crimes occurred between June 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010.

Wisehart is being held at Men’s Central Jail in lieu of $3 million bail.
