1934 - Bouquet Canyon Reservoir, replacement for ill-fated St. Francis Dam & reservoir, begins to fill with water [story]
Bouquet Reservoir

Weather Alert: There will be snow in Newhall on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring the kids (and your mittens) to play in more than 10 tons of snow at Lyons Avenue and Main Street (in the 9th street parking lot.) Santa Claus will be there for photos and to hear Christmas wishes.

There will be holiday music and kids can make their own keepsake holiday ornaments. Forge Ahead arts will be inviting children to learn to crochet. The Friends of the Library will be reading “Elf on the Shelf” hourly, and all interested children will be invited to begin a week long “Find the Elf on the Shelf“ contest. (Kids must attend Saturday to play. The contest lasts one week, and winners receive a family goody basket worth more than $200). All activities are free.

Residents are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item for the SCV Food Pantry or a new, unwrapped toy for the L.A. County Fire Department’s “Spark of Love” toy drive. You can bring donations to “Snow Day!” and also drop them off at the Newhall Library and with participating Newhall Merchants.
