Again this season, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Valencia will present numerous opportunities to prepare for and to celebrate the holiday season.
Sunday, December 14th Events
A Service of Advent Lessons & Carols will be presented at 10:00 a.m. in place of the usual Service of Holy Eucharist. This popular Episcopal tradition features biblical lessons foretelling of the coming of our Savior, interspersed with the singing of beautiful Advent hymns. A very touching and memorable worship opportunity!
St. Stephen’s Annual Nativity Scene Display will be held all morning long in Spurling Hall. Favorite nativity scenes from St. Stephen’s parishioners will be lovingly displayed along with a brief description of the owners’ family holiday display tradition.
A Christmas Sing-A-Long and Potluck Supper will be held beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Spurling Hall. Come and be prepared to sing along with your St. Stephen’s neighbors – seasonal favorites both religious and secular. If possible, please bring a potluck food item to share.
Saturday Evening, December 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Come and be transported back to First Century Palestine at St. Stephen’s “A Night in Bethlehem”!
This wonderful family-oriented event features in-costume players re-enacting the Christmas Story. Come in costume yourself if possible and join in the experience yourself. Please bring a canned good to “pay taxes” to the emperor. Then, enjoy a period-style dinner, children’s craft making, and carol singing. All of the SCV is invited to this fun, free event. An especially great learning experience for children.
Monday Evening, December 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
“Blue Christmas” Service. Join The Rev, Kelly O’Connell as she leads a contemplative service of hope and remembrance for those who are hurting from loss or other reasons this Christmas season.
Note: our Christmas Eve worship schedule will be released separately.
St. Stephen’s is located at 24901 Orchard Village Road in Santa Clarita, near the intersection with Lyons Avenue.
