newYearbabyIMG_8227- (4)_1Finley Yvette Griffin was born at 7:25 p.m. on New Year’s Day 2015 at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Weighing 7 pounds, 5 ounces and at 20 ½ inches long, Finley was delivered by natural childbirth after about 17 hours of labor. She is the first child for parents Nikki and Jeremy Griffin of Acton and the first granddaughter for Denise and Michael Griffin of Valencia.

Though Finley is her first child, Nikki said she felt at ease and very comfortable delivering at Henry Mayo because her sister’s three children were born there “so we knew the routine.” Jeremy and Nikki praised the care they received and were grateful for their nurse, Laura.

“She was awesome and stuck by us from start to finish,” Jeremy said.

The family gathered lovingly around Finley in Henry Mayo’s Women’s Unit during this most joyous occasion. As an added perk, the couple received special gifts from the hospital and its auxiliary group, including a celebration dinner, a baby care package, baby spoon, hat and blanket.

“We are so glad to have Finley in our lives,” Jeremy said. “It’s a great way to kick off 2015. As the first baby of the year born at Henry Mayo, she’s already a micro-superstar.”

Finley’s grandparents were all smiles.

“We are elated at her beauty,” Denise said, as the baby girl slept in her mother’s arms.
