Snapshot for 01/19/2015 to 01/25/2015
Last week in Zone 3, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:
A residential burglary occurred in the 25500 block of Fitzgerald Avenue. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s garage, using a previously stolen garage door opener, and stole the victim’s GPS and wallet containing cash and access cards. The suspect(s) then made an unauthorized on-line purchase using the victim’s credit card.
A burglary occurred in the 26200 block of Valencia Blvd. Surveillance cameras captured two males entering the property; one was holding a pry tool. Doors were forced open. Taken was petty cash from a locked drawer.
An attempted vehicle theft occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road. A Canyon Country man was taken into custody by Santa Clarita deputies while in the driver’s seat of the victim’s unattended idling vehicle. The victim is a newspaper delivery man who reported the incident when he saw the suspect inside his vehicle. The suspect was unsuccessful because the victim had the key fob on his person making the vehicle immobile.
A vehicle burglary occurred in the 25200 block of The Old Road. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s sports utility vehicle and stole the third row seat.
Another vehicle burglary occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s sports utility vehicle and stole the third row seat.
An additional vehicle burglary occurred in the 25000 block of Blue Ridge Way. Unknown suspect(s) stole the third row seat from the victim’s sports utility vehicle. Also taken was a bag containing a tablet and a cellular phone.
Two shoplifting incidents occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Road. During the first incident, a Simi Valley resident was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Station deputies after being detained by Loss Prevention personnel.
During the second incident, a named suspect entered the business and stole a drink and a TV wall mount off the shelves. The suspect then walked out to an awaiting vehicle driven by another male. The vehicle fled prior to detention by Loss Prevention. Both incidents are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.
A theft of a bicycle occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road. The victim’s bicycle was stolen from the bike racks in front of the business by unknown suspect(s).
A petty theft incident occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s bag containing clothing, work keys and work boots while unattended.
Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind year round:
* Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle overnight.
* If you have a garage door opener (clicker), please secure it in your purse or locked glove compartment when away from your vehicle.
* Do not leave your property unattended.
* If you see any suspicious persons in your neighborhood, or place of business, please do not hesitate to the call the Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.
* Also, please remember to store your local law enforcement’s station phone number in to your cellular phone.
