The City of Santa Clarita will host a free reception for the new art installment entitled Bazaar on Wednesday, July 8, at the Town Center Art Space, located at 24201 Valencia Boulevard. The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 3.
Bazaar, developed by Forge Ahead Arts artists Martha Wilcox and Moire Lendering and curator Stephanie O’Connor, examines “the marketplace,” where goods and services are exchanged in different cultures. Historically, and today, it is an important hub – an energetic center of essential activity.
Much can be learned about a community by the kinds of materials that change hands, the environment where these exchanges take place and the manner of the transaction. Though created using modern suburban material, the installation loosely represents a more humble, historic bazaar space.
The audience is invited to “enter” the marketplace and experience the continuum of economic exchange that transcends time and place and connects buyers and sellers all over the world.
A free public reception for the Bazaar exhibit will be held at 6 p.m. at the art space in the Westfield Valencia Town Center. Guests will be able to meet the artists and curator, enjoy light refreshments and live music as they explore the exhibit.
