crimezoneDozens of stolen SUV third row seats were recovered by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies after an investigation was conducted in October.

The city of Santa Clarita and surrounding areas have experienced a very high rate of vehicle burglaries involving the theft of American built SUV third row seats in 2015.

To combat these types of thefts, the Santa Clarita Valley Station’s Crime Impact Team, or CIT, conducted an investigation into the thefts.

During the investigation, deputies identified a residence in Lancaster where it appeared that occupants were buying the stolen third row seats.

On Oct. 28, 2015, deputies from the CIT and Juvenile Team, or J-Team, served a search warrant at the identified residence on 36th Street West in Lancaster.

Deputies recovered 44 third row seats that are believed to have been stolen from the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas.

The homeowner, 30-year-old Alexander Huerta was arrested for operating a chop shop and receiving stolen property.

Deputies will be making attempts to match the recovered third row seats with reports of stolen third row seats.

If you reported a third row seat stolen in the Santa Clarita Valley or surrounding area, and you have some way to identify your property, contact CIT personnel at 661-799-5147.

If you have any other information regarding this incident, you may also contacting Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.
Or if you wish to remain Anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website.

    • Mine has all the French fries and cereal tucked in it ? there are no serial numbers on 3rd row seats. The detectives told me it would be hard to prove unless I had something specific on the seat . ?

  5. Reason being the third seat is really expensive runs anywhere from 300 to 600 dollars . So some people steal them to sell . Great job by the department many robberies have in going on .. ??

  17. Charlene Gil Charlene Gil says:

Thanks Janell Noland We called in and referenced our police report :)

  18. Keep a snake in the car. Give them nightmares until they are caught.

  19. We never leave ours in the car because of this issue. Ridiculous but unfortunately it’s a necessity now.

  20. ???? I’m confused? Have the thieves created demand of the seats by stealing them? Because how do the seats disappear from a vehicle, on a ‘normal’ basis? Huh??????

  21. So I have been told by multiple people that went to the dealership to buy refurbished or new third row seats, that the dealers buy “hot blackmarket” seats!!!
I thought it was BS until I asked a friend of a friend that works at a dealership that deals with that issue on a daily and he agreed and said they get them delivered or picked up from sun valley and LA for cheap (because they do allllllot of business) and they only pay with cash and sell it to the customer for 10 times the amount.

  22. Hummm, I thought cars came with the seats so who buys them? These same thieves may be collecting welfare too. That’s double dipping! Glad their caught, now deport them if they are illegal.

  23. Carey Johnson Mercier now you can find your seat
