A man is in a medically induced coma after a vehicle struck him Wednesday night at around 6 p.m., according to Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department officials.

The incident happened at West Creekside Road and Auto Center Drive after residents reported seeing a person face down on the ground between Big John’s and the Mini Cooper dealership behind Target.

The victim was not in a crosswalk when he was struck and the driver was not cited, said Lt. Hahnlein.

According to Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department officials, an emergency crew transported the man to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital after the crash.
