Six year ago the Hart 10U Girls Softball team did the improbable, winning a National Championship. Yesterday nine of those girls did what few others get to dream of, signing a national letter-of-intent to play NCAA Softball.
The list includes a who’s who of Foothill league talents from the 2014-15 season; Jessica Harper, Mariah Lopez, Cayla Kessinger, Ty Cueva, Lindsay Clare, Raquel Blanchard, Sierra Boyajian, Brittany Ross-Smith and Amanda Doyle.
Harper helped lead West Ranch to their fourth straight Foothill league title, falling just an inning short of claiming a CIF-SS Division One Championship. Lopez has been nearly un-hittable in her career in the circle for Saugus, while Blanchard, Doyle and Ross-Smith have been some of the most consistent hitters over the last few seasons.
When all totaled, the entire class of signees is possibly the best in the history of Santa Clarita Valley softball.
The nine girls can add their names to a long line of Santa Clarita Softball players who have gone on to college careers dating back to the 1970s.
