The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley is hosting their 13th annual Festival of Trees at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex this weekend.

The Festival of Trees is not only a fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, but is also a great way for people to get in the holiday spirit, said Duane Harte, facilities chair for the Festival of Trees.

The festival features an auction of 35 professionally decorated trees between seven and nine feet tall, 35 themed tabletop trees and 175 gingerbread houses, as well as a holiday shopping boutique, Kid’s Corner and community stage with ongoing performances.

The professionally decorated trees will be auctioned off at the Festival of Trees Magic of the Light Gala on Saturday evening.

The gala will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, located at 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway. The cost is $75 per person. Tickets are available at the website or at the door.

“All the money that we raise here will go towards the Boys & Girls Club,” Harte said.

The Santa Clarita community also have the option of bidding on one of the 35 tabletop trees or 175 gingerbread houses throughout the festival.

Several of the tabletop trees were also themed around high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley, including Hart, West Ranch, Golden Valley, Valencia, Canyon and Saugus High.

The bids will close on Sunday, “the highest bidder will take home whichever (item they bid for),” said Harte.

In addition to the gingerbread houses and tabletop trees, professionally decorated holiday wreaths will also be available for purchase at the festival, Harte said.

“I love looking at the trees and looking at all of the ideas that these designers come up with,” said Harte. “We have a few different designers who put these all together. Just to see some of the stuff gives me ideas for my own tree… Some of them are just incredible.”

The Festival of Trees started on Thursday, Nov. 19 and will run through Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, located at
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday; and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission for the festival is $6 per person ages 15 and over; $3 per child ages 4 to 14; free for ages 3 and under; and $4 per person for veterans and seniors ages 65 and older.
