No. 4 College of the Canyons will host No. 13 Ventura College in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Women’s Volleyball Southern California Regional Playoffs at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the Cougar Cage.
Canyons (22-2) enters as the three-time defending Western State Conference (WSC), South champions.
Head coach Lisa Hooper and the Cougars finished their conference schedule 12-0 for a second straight year, and have not lost a conference match since Oct. 25, 2013 — a span of 30 matches.
The Pirates (18-7) finished third in the WSC, North with a 7-5 conference record.
This is Ventura’s second straight trip to the postseason under third-year head coach Brad Lyans.
The CCCAA women’s volleyball postseason tournament will continue throughout November, with second round action taking place Saturday, Nov. 28, and round three concluding Tuesday, Dec. 1.
College of the Canyons will then serve as host of the 2015 CCCAA Women’s Volleyball State Championships being held Dec. 4-6, in Santa Clarita.
Per CCCAA guidelines, admission to Tuesday’s SoCal Regional playoff game is $12 for adults and $8 for COC staff and students with I.D., seniors over 60 and children under 10.
