A number of Santa Clarita residents have purchased what appeared to be counterfeit discount cards from people claiming to be William S. Hart High School students, according to district officials.
Dave Caldwell, public information officer for the William S. Hart Union High School District, issued a warning message to all families within the school district.
The message is as follows:
As you know, many of our students participate in fundraising activities throughout the year for their performing groups, sports or clubs. However, it has been brought to our attention that there are young people claiming to be affiliated with Hart High School selling phony discount cards in the Valencia and greater Santa Clarita Valley area (please see attached photos of the discount cards). If you are approached by any student claiming to be selling anything as part of a fundraiser within the Hart School District, please ask to see their student ID card. If you are faced with a group you believe is misrepresenting a school within the district, please alert the SCV Sheriff’s department at 661-255-1121.

That really sucks!
Young man came by our house on Saturday. He had no school id, and was claiming it was for new football equipment. In questioning him, he said he has to pay for his own helmet repairs…….
Didn’t fall for his story. Told him I donate direct to school…he wasn’t happy

Their are usually kids around cvs area selling chocolate bars but charge $3 says it’s for football

We were scammed as were at least 3 other families. If you were, please go down to the Sheriff’s Station. They want reports.
There are 2 of them walking up and down abelia rd in shadow pines right now trying to sell them, but said they were from a college out here..

I’m not sure, as soon as he approached me and started talking my mom yelled that we weren’t interested.. It could have been a college or university, sorry I’m not much help, I was on the phone at the time too.
They were in Valencia last week trying to sell the same thing. Said they were from California State University, Northridge. The guy that came to my house said he was selling the stuff to help make money to pay for his leftover tuition. He had a full story claiming he was working on is BA in Business. I knew it was a scam because I graduated from CSUN and never once heard of this type of thing to help pay for tuition. Didn’t call the cops, but called our security who came and kicked them out.

Yup! 2 of them came to my door Saturday afternoon claiming it was for Hart high “fall basketball camp”?? After telling them no thanks I saw them get picked up in a mini van down the street from my house.
You’ve got to respect their hustle and work ethic. If only they could improve in the life ethics department.
