Santa Clarita residents can bring unwanted paints, stains and varnishes to the PaintCare Paint Drop-off Event this February.
This free event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Via Princessa Metrolink Station, located at 19201 Via Princessa.
The Paint Drop-off event allows residents and businesses to safely and securely dispose of most types of paint, stain and varnish. Residents disposing of paint at the event should bring containers with their original manufacturer labels. This event is for the following items only: house paint and primers (latex or oil-based), stains, deck and concrete sealers and clear finishes (e.g. varnishes, shellac).
Businesses that generate less than 220 pounds (approximately 20-30 gallons) of hazardous waste per month may bring any amount of latex or oil-based paint. Businesses that generate more than 220 pounds of hazardous waste per month may bring any amount of latex paint, but may not bring oil-based paint to this event.
Items not eligible for disposal at the event include:
Leaking, unlabeled or empty containers
Aerosol spray paints
Drums or containers larger than five gallons
Other types of hazardous waste (paint thinner, solvents, motor oil, spackle, glue, adhesive, roofing tar, pesticides or cleaning chemicals.
The Paint Drop-off Event is sponsored by PaintCare, a non-profit organization, in cooperation with the city of Santa Clarita.
