Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station detectives are asking the public for their help in locating a man who attempted to sexually assault a 36-year-old woman in the Newhall area last weekend.

Suspect Richard Sanchez allegedly unlawfully entered the victim’s apartment and grabbed the victim, forcing her to the ground. As Sanchez was pulling on the victim’s dress, his attempted assault was interrupted by the victim’s child.

Richard Sanchez is described as being a 29-year-old male Hispanic, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 230 pounds. He is wanted for attempted sexual assault and burglary.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121. Do not attempt to approach or make contact with the suspect yourself.

You can also submit a tip anonymously to LA Crime Stoppers by dialing 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website: http://lacrimestoppers.org.

Guns are fine to own but in this situation would not have helped. Not unless she walks around the house with a loaded gun in her pocket with her kid in the house.

Maybe pepper spray by the door up high where her child can’t get it and look through the peep hole before answering the door. Refuse to open for someone you don’t know. Keep deadbolt on door at all times.

  26. Limogirl says:

Richard get help.. You are a father, son, brother.Turn yourself in,do your time get clean and get the help you need, people care and love you. Those who know you know this is not who you are.I don’t know what happens, just get help.I will prey for you. Please turn yourself in before it’s to late.
