Why are we so quick to jump to this instead of look at the cameras first or think it might be a teenagers who hung out there or went to the movies there.
BTW, Tanya Jordan-Romo: looking at cameras isn’t like what you see on “NCIS” or “Person of Interest.” In the real world there aren’t cameras facing every direction imaginable, you can’t zoom in on the image, it usually isn’t even in high definition so it’s rather (or very) grainy, and accessing multiple cameras is very time-consuming, especially when they are owned and operated by different businesses and they are not networked together. This assumes that they were turned on and recording, which is never a safe assumption.
Terrorists often leave harmless backpacks in areas as a “probe” to see if there’s any response from law enforcement. If not they know it’s a soft target.

All nearby businesses were evacuated and closed around 5 PM: the theater, Cupid’s Baja Fresh, Dickey’s, Cold Stone.
